Silent Night Deadly Night 5: The Toy Maker

You would think being on vacation would make it easier to get viewings and reviews in, but it’s not. In fact, I am off my routine and this project is becoming quite difficult for me this week. Ugh! Part of my problem may be due to watching too many of the Silent Night films in a row and not really liking the sequels. Also, being super busy with family and friends and whatnot. Anyway, I didn’t start this blog to make excuses, the reviews must go on.

Back are Yuzna (producing which he is much better at vs. directing) and Clint Howard. Added to the mix is the astounding Mickey Rooney playing a psycho toy maker. Combined that easily makes this the best of the sequels to the original Christmas bloodbath. If you just watch the first film, the YouTube clip of “Garbage Day” from number 2 and this film you will have seen everything you need to from this franchise. Seriously.

Joe Petto (Rooney) likes to give out gifts…of death. The best scene in the movie is the attack on the horny babysitter and her boyfriend who wears tighty-whities. In a scene of complete ridiculousness they are stormed by an army of toy soldiers and slowly maimed to death while getting it on. It has to be seen to be believed.

Anyway, don’t think too hard about this film and you might enjoy it. That is, if you can still find a DVD or VHS version of it.
